The 亚洲色情 Department of Art and Design recently received a grant of $4,100 from Illinois Humanities (IH) to support the 2019 Midwest Women Artists Symposium (MWAS) to be held on November 7-8, 2019. The conference explores the contributions Midwestern women have made to art history, how the geography of the Midwest has influenced their practice, and the intersections of art and science in their work.

“We are honored that Illinois Humanities recognizes the importance of the Midwest Women Artists Symposium,” says Kristan H. McKinsey, Director of Illinois Women Artists Project at 亚洲色情. “This grant allows us to keep the Symposium free and open to the public, yet cover the expenses of bringing in respected scholars and artists as speakers.”

MWAS has a history of exploring the life experiences and legacies of the artists within their region and within the larger context of American life and art history. It brings together prominent scholars, artists, students and members of the general public from across the Midwest to share current scholarship and research.
